Paul Rudd wants you to get out and vote in the midterms in November, and he’s willing to do karaoke to make sure that you do.
Rudd, “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will host a karaoke fundraiser in New York City on October 19 with a lineup of special guest performers who haven’t been announced yet.
The event will raise money for Latino Victory Project and Onward Together, nonprofit groups that work on voter mobilization and getting people involved in the political process. It takes place two weeks before the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
Fans can enter a sweepstakes for a VIP package that includes airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets to the event and a meet-and-greet with Miranda and Clinton. The sweepstakes closes October 2. Enter at ActBlue.com.
This isn’t the first time Rudd has used his celebrity to get people excited about voting.
During the 2018 midterm elections the “Ant-Man” star, who grew up in Overland Park but lives now in Rhinebeck, New York, supported Democratic candidate Antonio Delgado’s successful bid to unseat incumbent Republican John Faso to represent the 19th Congressional District near Poughkeepsie. Delgado is currently New York’s lieutenant governor.
The Big Slick co-host participated then in a rally to boost voter enthusiasm, alongside singer Natalie Merchant to actress Mary Stuart Masterson.
During the 2024 presidential election Rudd handed out water and snacks to students waiting in long lines to vote at Temple University and Villanova University.
“I just wanted to give people water,” he told MSNBC. “They’re waiting in line for a long time, and it’s a wonderful thing that all these young people are out voting.”
