Rejecting any involvement in Israel’s genocide, apartheid and different worldwide crimes, requires braveness and conviction as states in Europe proceed to crackdown on this very important activism.
“Right this moment’s affirmation of the top of Israel Bonds’ sale in Europe exhibits simply what this solidarity can obtain. We should proceed speaking about Palestinians lives and rejecting complacency and complicity.”
Background
To be offered within the European Financial Space (EEA), the prospectus for Israel Bonds must be accepted by a reliable authority in an EU member state. Since 2021 Eire has been the ‘house member state’ for Israel Bonds. As a result of public stress in response to Israel’s genocide in opposition to Palestinians within the occupied Gaza Strip, in 2025 the Central Financial institution of Eire transferred the prospectus to Luxembourg whose competent monetary authority accepted it. This prospectus expired on August 31, 2026.
In July, Luxembourg’s monetary regulator rejected to approve the prospectus for an additional 12 months. The choice got here after rising stress from civil society and authorized consultants. They mobilized and printed analysis to assist their name to the authorities to cease the bonds.
Amnesty Worldwide has been calling on Eire, Luxembourg and different EU states to not enable the sale of Israel Bonds in Europe.
