A former Crew USA triathlete was discovered lifeless following a swim on a household trip.

Spencer Korwin, 38, a father of two, was discovered lifeless Sept. 2 after he went lacking off New York’s Shelter Island after going out for a swim.

His physique was discovered below a dock on the Pridwin Resort on Lengthy Island following an hours-long search, in keeping with native authorities.

Officers imagine he died from an unintended drowning, though an official reason for dying from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Workplace is pending.

Korwin represented the USA on the 2012 Triathlon World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand.

An avid swimmer, Korwin’s dying highlights the risks of swimming in unknown waters and underestimating the tides and currents round Shelter Island.

“Persons are not aware of the waters round right here,” Laurie Eckardt, a lifelong Shelter Island resident, informed the Shelter Island Reporter.

It’s the second obvious drowning within the space this summer time after 18-year-old Timothy Magambo drowned whereas swimming with buddies simply months earlier.

Korwin is survived by his spouse and two younger daughters, ages 1 and 4.

“Spencer was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and good friend. He was the solar round which so lots of our lives orbited, and his loss is being felt deeply by everybody who knew and liked him,” a GoFundMe web page for Korwin reads partially, as members of the family arrange a fund for his youngsters’s future schooling.
