David Bruce Reed, III, died on September 12, 2026 at age 89. He was born June 7, 1937 in Sumter, SC and was raised in Charleston, SC. After graduating from The Citadel in 1959, he was commissioned within the Military. His 24-year Military profession took him to assignments in Europe and the Far East. He served two excursions within the Vietnam Warfare and one tour in The Pentagon on the Military Employees. His favourite project was as Provost Marshal of Fort Jackson, SC. As one of many Military’s few commissioned legal investigators, he was accountable for a number of legal investigation items and took part in a number of nationally recognized investigations. Apart from Infantry, Navy Police Officers and Legal Investigation programs, he additionally attended the Military’s Command and Basic Employees Faculty and obtained his Grasp’s Diploma in Legal Justice from Michigan State College. In 1999, he retired once more and moved to his waterfront home in Southern Maryland to pursue his lifelong hobbies of golf and boating. He was a life member of The Navy Officers Affiliation of America, The Worldwide Affiliation of Chiefs of Police, and The American Society for Industrial Safety.

David’s actual love in life was his household. He was the son of the late Bruce and Charlotte Reed of Charleston, SC. He married his longtime girlfriend Natalie Furlong in 1959.

They have been married for 67 years and lived for 32 of these years in Breton Bay Estates in Leonardtown, MD. They’ve two kids, Charlanne Reed Hertz and the late David B. Reed, IV. He’s additionally survived by his son-in-law Jay Hertz and his brother, Marion S. Reed, his spouse Patricia and son Brook. David and Natalie have six grandchildren: Jason Hertz and his spouse Andrea, Tommy Hertz and his spouse Carrington, Sam Hertz and his spouse Luane, Brandy Reed and her husband Robert Man, Whitney Matthews and her husband Travis, and Kristy Irvine and her husband Sean. They’ve 5 nice grandchildren: Carson and Jackson Hertz, sons of Jason and Andrea; one nice granddaughter, Amelia and one nice grandson, Clayton, kids of Travis and Whitney, and Logan David Irvine, son of Sean and Kristy.

A Memorial Service might be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in California, MD. Interment will comply with at Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown, MD.
